Sinus / Jaw / TMJ Pain

sinusitis

Your sinuses are located in your cheekbones, behind your nasal cavity, between your eyes, in your forehead, and are comprised of eight hollow cavities. Sinusitis is a condition that causes inflammation in the tissues surrounding these hollow cavities, and acute sinusitis is a common condition where fluid blocks these tissues and often results in bacterial infection.

When you have acute sinusitis, you’re likely to have symptoms such as:

  • Headache
  • Runny Nose
  • Puffy or Swollen Facial Tissue
  • Sore Throat
  • Cold-Like Symptoms

People often turn to nasal sprays and decongestants to combat sinusitis. Chiropractic treatment for sinus issues is something that most people overlook, but it may be the answer to your suffering. At Long Beach Spine and Rehabilitation Chiropractic Health Center, we treat the underlying cause of your health problem and not just the symptoms.

Your sinus treatment will vary slightly depending on your specific set of circumstances. Depending on the scope and origin of your sinus pain, the chiropractic adjustment may include your neck, facial bones, and/or back. If you have misaligned vertebrae in your spinal column, it could be adding to your sinus issue, making it worse. Misalignments of the spine and/or facial bones can cause nerve and tissue dysfunction.

TMJ stands for temporomandibular joint. It is the joint where the jaw hinges to the skull just in front of the ear. This joint is held together by a complex group of muscles, tendons and ligaments. There is a cartilaginous disc in the joint similar to the knee joint.

Symptoms of Jaw (TMJ) dysfunction include:

  • Painful Jaw
  • Clicking or Popping Jaw
  • Headache
  • Earache
  • Facial Pain in Front of the Ear
  • Neck Pain
  • Sensitive Teeth
  • Watering Eyes

Jaw (TMJ) dysfunction can be caused by dental problems, injury to the jaw and/or neck, whiplash, facial and/or spinal misalignment, grinding and/or clenching the teeth. The onset of symptoms is usually gradual, progressively getting worse over a period of a few days to several months.

By correcting the misalignment between your spine and nervous system, chiropractic care can help alleviate pain in your jaw. At Long Beach Spine and Rehabilitation Chiropractic Health Center, we focus on relieving muscle tension and proper alignment of the temporomandibular joint.

We use the following treatments specifically for Sinus, Jaw and TMJ:
