Chiropractic Massage Therapy helps alleviate the discomfort associated with every day and occupational stresses, muscular over-use and many chronic pain conditions.
At Long Beach Spine and Rehabilitation Chiropractic Health Center, we offer soft tissue therapy. Sometimes the best approach to relieving sore and/or stiff muscles is to treat the soft tissue itself with manual pressure and massage. The muscles are often lengthened or shortened during the treatment with a resulting relief of pain. By combining massage therapy with chiropractic techniques, we minimize systemic inflammation and thereby reduce pain as well as other symptoms.
Massage plays an important role as a supplement to standard rehabilitation procedures after surgery. By increasing circulation while relaxing the muscles, massage can help the body pump more oxygen and nutrients into tissues and vital organs. This allows the surgical rehabilitating area (s) to become more flexible and heal at an accelerated rate. Meet our massage therapists.

Massage Technique Descriptions:
Swedish Massage: Swedish massage involves the use of oil or lotion combined with long, flowing strokes, kneading and circular movements. It feels very relaxing, warming and nurturing.
Sports Massage: We use sports massage for people in preparation for or recovery from a sports event, or rehabilitation from an injury. Usually there is a specific issue to address ranging from joint immobility to muscle soreness to injury prevention.
Deep Tissue Sculpting: This type of massage helps in releasing deeper layers of muscle and myofascial connective tissue with slower strokes or friction techniques across or with the grain of the muscle. We use deep tissue massage for tight muscles, repetitive strain, myofascial constriction, postural problems, or recovery from injury.
HIVAMAT®: We offer this Deep Oscillation Therapy®, a revolutionary therapeutic device that can treat swelling, relieve soft tissue pain, and help an injury recover faster. Deep oscillation is characterized by an intermittent electrostatic field, which is built up between the hand applicator and the tissue of the patient by means of the HIVAMAT®. When applying Deep oscillation the tissue will be thoroughly “kneaded” by mechanical force. Optimal use is for post-surgical rehabilitation and swelling reduction, lymphatic drainage and injury recovery.
Geriatrics Massage: This type of massage uses gentle and light application of massage techniques and can include passive stretching and a light oil or lotion to permit muscles to be worked on without causing excessive friction to the skin. These techniques can help enhance blood circulation, combat depression, improve balance and flexibility, reduce the pain of arthritis, increase joint mobility, improve posture, and encourage overall well-being.
Trigger Point Therapy: This is a form of Remedial Massage Therapy in which direct pressure is applied to specified points on tender muscle tissue to bring about reduction in muscle tension and pain relief. Our Trigger Point Therapists are familiar with the location and pain referral patterns of trigger points for commonly affected muscles and highly-skilled in the treatment of them.
Lymphatic Drainage Massage: This is an important technique for moving lymph fluid out of the congested areas and back into circulation. It requires a very light touch and several types of movement: a circular movement used to stimulate decongestion of lymph nodes, a sweeping movement to push fluid from one location to another, and deep breathing techniques combined with circular movement to stimulate deeper abdominal lymph nodes.
CraniosSacral Massage Therapy: This therapy acknowledges the body’s sublime intelligence and natural capacity for self-repair. It soothes the body’s neural matrix and eases the impacts of stress on our physiology. Unlike other bodywork, no force or manipulation is used – just gentle touch making it safe for newborns and non-invasive enough for those recovering from accidents or surgery. Commonly used to successfully treat conditions such as chronic sinus congestion, TMJ and Bell’s Palsy.
Pregnancy Chiropractic Massage Therapy: We also specialize in Pregnancy Chiropractic Massage Therapy. During pregnancy, edema (swelling) of the joints is often caused by reduced circulation and increased pressure to the major blood vessels by the heavy uterus. Massage helps to reduce the collection of fluids in swollen joints and soft tissue, which then improves the removal of waste products that is carried by the body’s lymphatic system.
Many women also experience sciatic pain in pregnancy as the uterus begins to rest on muscles of the pelvis and lower back. Chiropractic Massage Therapy addresses the inflamed nerves by helping to release the tension on many muscles. A massage program can reduce the sciatic nerve pain during pregnancy.
